Font del Vern (Alder Fountain)

This fountain is set in the heart of an impressive forest of majestic large leaf oaks, containing specimens that have stood there for more than two hundred years and are the oldest in Camprodon.

Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the landscape with a breathtaking view of Camprodon at the beginning of the path that winds up to the fountain. Rest on one of the stone benches that can be found dotted throughout the Llandrius and Ritortell valleys, placed there by the Vila Riera brothers, to drink in the fountain’s stunning natural setting within the Alta Vall del Ter, a forest ecosystem with significant ecological and scenic value.

Despite its name, which in Catalan means ‘Fountain of the Alder tree’, there are no alders to be found in the surrounding area, although there may once have been in the past.
