Cavallera
The landscape of the Cavallera mountain range is one of the most beautiful in the area. Nestled high in the mountains and surrounded by green meadows and nature, its mountain range is presided over by the Valley’s highest peak, the Taga. The hermitages of Sant Martí d’Ogassa and Sant Martí de Surroca, which can also be found here also offer an insight into the history of this town.
With no more than around thirty inhabitants, the village is made up of a smattering of houses and farmhouses distributed along the Camí de Cavallera road.
The Cavallera Tower, one of the town’s principal architectural structures, was erected on a strategic site providing a vantage point from which to overlook and defend the valley. The fortress, built in the tenth century, remains mostly intact thanks to its solid construction.

Gastronomy
No trip to Camprodon would be complete without tasting some of its local gourmet products. Sample the Valley’s cured meats and sausages, cheeses, veal and colt meat, Birba biscuits and Trumfa potatoes and be taken on a gastronomic journey through our lands. Camprodon and its Valley are especially famed for high quality, traditional dining.
The towns
The Vila de Camprodon is the municipal capital and is surrounded by other urban centres and neighbourhoods with their own distinctive personalities and characteristics. Fall in love with the picture-postcard village of Beget, wander among the ruins of Rocabruna, enjoy the nature and fauna of Cavallera and explore the history of Salarsa as you discover the towns and villages of our municipality. Specifically, the Vila de Camprodon comprises the Estabanell Colony, the neighbourhood of Cavallera, the grand houses of Mariner, Sitjar and Resclusanys, the neighbourhood of Freixenet, the residential area of Font Rubí, and in the Alta Garrotxa region, the villages of Rocabruna and Beget. Bolós, Bestraçà, Font Rubí and Creixenturri also form part of the municipality.
