Creixenturri

Downstream from the town and on the left bank of the Ter, we come to Creixenturri, a village that, up until 1965, was part of the old municipality of Freixent de Camprodon.

The first records of this village date back to 904, although due to the earthquakes between 1427-1428 it fell into decay, with many of its buildings damaged, such as Creixenturri Castle, documented to have stood there from the thirteenth century and destroyed in 1554.

The Romanesque image of Our Lady of the Fort venerated in the chapel of the castle was transferred to the parish church in 1557, which subsequently became the Remei Sanctuary sometime in the eighteenth century.
